INTERNET-BASED ACCESS TO IUCN KNOWLEDGE NETWORK USER AGREEMENT

General

The IUCN Internet-based Knowledge Network is an information system in line with IUCN’s objectives listed in Part II (3) (f) of its Statutes, i.e., to develop expert networks and information systems to support IUCN’s members and components. Its purpose is to allow users access to the most up-to-date and accurate information possible on people and organizations with whom IUCN works and cooperates.

Because the recording and transmission of data about persons is highly regulated by national and international laws, IUCN strives to meet its obligation to protect personal information under applicable laws. Therefore, all users of the IUCN Knowledge Network must complete this form before they can be allowed access. Thank you for your cooperation.

Secrecy Undertaking

• I understand that I may not use the information for any other purpose. In particular, I may not provide contact information to individuals who are not authorized users of the IUCN Knowledge Network, unless authorised by the Network Master. I understand that such unauthorized communication of data may be not only illegal but also a criminal offence in some countries.
• I understand that Internet-based access to IUCN information is granted to me through my login/password combination and I may not under any circumstances provide access to any other individual (including my supervisor(s)) by sharing this information.
• I agree that I will provide the same or equivalent level of protection to all data used by me as provided by applicable Swiss and EU data privacy regulations.
• I agree to notify the IUCN Network Master (knadmin@iucn.org) if my login/password combination appears to have been lost, borrowed or otherwise compromised.
• Providing access to other individuals with my login/password combination is a violation of this agreement which may be referred to the Director General for disciplinary action (in the case of IUCN employees) or may entail the cancellation of my user status or liquidated damages.
• Accordingly, I understand I will be held responsible for any higher damages resulting from the provision of my login/password combination or from transmission of information from the Knowledge Network to another or an unauthorized individual.
• Section 1.5.6 of IUCN Staff Rules July 1996 is herein incorporated by reference as an integral part of this agreement.

Property of Data

All data and information in the IUCN Internet-based Knowledge Network information system, whether viewed on screen, downloaded or stored on disks or printed, remains the exclusive property of IUCN - The World Conservation Union.

Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

This Agreement shall be governed by Swiss substantive law. The courts of IUCN’s statutory seat in Gland, Vaud, Switzerland shall have jurisdiction over any dispute relating to this Agreement.
